Here’s a recent a comment made Facebook about Marriage that touched on a myth

Recently I saw this comment: “How important is your marriage? Well, according to God it’s a second priority next to Him. If you aren’t right with your spouse then nothing else will line up. Think I’m wrong???? Ok, go ahead and try it your way and see how long your marriage last….” -Annonymous

The above comment at first seems reasonable however it is a myth!

Here’s my answer to the anonymous comment: It’s a lot more complicated to our human mind but not to God. However, being right with God sometimes makes you not right with your spouse, but to stay faithful to God (day by day, in your marriage role as the husband, or as the wife) is what you will be judged/rewarded for when you appear before God. Example, Job wasn’t right with his wife, when his wife suggested to him, Job, “you should curse God and die.” Sometimes spouses in moments or stages of weakness do make those types of suggestions, but the other spouse must be faithful to God’s voice, especially in those moments where practicing spiritual obedience and true faith, because sometimes you as the spouse is being tested for a much greater purpose, just like Job was being tested. Marriage is the ultimate humble walk proving your Christian genuineness, where you can never let outside audiences (external to your marriage or within your marriage) confuse the inside work (faithfulness, trust, stewardship, loyalty, etc) which God has assigned to you and your spouse to grow from, first and foremost in your marriage.

Marriage isn’t convenient for us but will be a divine tool God uses to grow us. Marriage is super precious to God, (so much so that the end of time culminates in the supreme marriage, the church marriage with Jesus Christ before God The Father).  Any way we can each celebrate and praise its sacredness will help us all do Bible-based and Holy Spirit-Led marriages with the highest level of spiritual integrity.

In closing this post, I list below only 2 of the 14 passages of Scripture found in the above picture. I didn’t create the above image, nor did I choose the Scriptures. However, being a student of the Holy Scriptures, I know no Scriptures that permit Christian believers to do a life-calling from God with lukewarmness or bring less than their best spiritual effort. Marriage and every Christian duty from God call each person to bring their “A” Game! Enjoy the two below Scripture encouragements and referencing the additional Scriptures found in the image.

5 But be doers of the Word [obey the message], and not merely listeners to it, betraying yourselves [into deception by reasoning contrary to the Truth].23For if anyone only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his [own] natural face in a mirror;24For he thoughtfully observes himself, and then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like.25But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience). (James 1:22-25)
2 For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons.4For the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds,5[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
